<p>For many dieters, the thought of spending hours at a local gym may not be appealing. However, there are plenty of exercises you can do from the comfort of your own home. Here are just 6 easy home exercises to help you lose weight:</p>
<p>1. Ab Twist</p>
<p>For this exercise, you will need to sit down, using a towel for comfort, with your feet spread shoulder-width apart and the toes pointed upward. Then, take a ball (roughly the size of a soccer ball) with both your hands and extend your arms directly in front of you.</p>
<p>Following the starting position, lie back slowly and tuck in while keeping your abdominal muscles tight. Stop about halfway to the floor and twist to one side while holding the ball toward the floor. Hold this position for a moment, and then twist to the other side. Repeat a set number of times.</p>
<p>2. Wall Squat</p>
<p>With the wall squat, you will need to stand with your back against the nearest bare wall. Place the ball between the wall and the small of your back while keeping your feet shoulder-width apart with the toes pointed forward.</p>
<p>Once you are positioned, lower your body, feeling the ball roll against your back, and hold the position for five counts. Squeeze your glutes (your backside muscles) and move back up along the wall for another five counts. Repeat as needed.</p>
<p>3. Back Pull</p>
<p>For this, you need to roll your towel and hold it length-wise above your head. While maintaining your breathing, bend your arms and lower the towel behind your head, keeping tension on it the entire time. However, do not tense your neck. Repeat the exercise as needed.</p>
<p>4. Push-Up</p>
<p>With a push-up, place the towel on the floor for comfort. Once on your knees, walk your hands forward until you are positioned at a 45-degree incline. With your fingers spread, your hands should only be a little wider than shoulder-width apart.</p>
<p>Following this, lower your body while keeping your muscles tight and hold the position about 2 inches from the floor. You should always be looking straight ahead as you do this. Then, push your body back up and start again as needed.</p>
<p>5. Heel Walk</p>
<p>While sitting in a rolling chair, propel yourself forward by only using your heels. Keep your shoulders back while you do this for about 2 minutes.</p>
<p>6. Bridge</p>
<p>With the bridge, you will need to lie down onto your back with your feet flat on the floor with your hands at your sides. If your neck feels tense, place the towel beneath your head for comfort and support.</p>
<p>Once you are ready, raise your lower half and bottom off the floor. Hold this for a single count before lowering, but do not let your bottom touch the floor until you have completed all your repetitions. Make sure to tighten your backside muscles during the exercise.</p>

<p>Calorie is the measure of energy in a food. Scientifically, one calorie is  that amount of energy that is needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water  by 1 degree centigrade.</p>
<p>The calorie needs of different people are different. The calories that are  derived from our food are needed for the functioning of one&#8217;s body to keep us  living, and for doing other activities.</p>
<p>Sixty to sixty five percent of the calories one consume are expended for  carrying out body functions such as breathing, digesting, blood purification,  heart beating, maintaining body temperature, etc. Another ten percent is  expended in processing the food that is consumed.</p>
<p>A minimum of 1200 calories per day is required to just keep you living. A  lower calorie intake than that will decrease your iron level and lower down your  metabolism.</p>
<p><strong>Different people Different calorie needs</strong></p>
<p>Many factors such as one&#8217;s age, size, gender, weight, height, activity level  and the climatic condition of the surrounding environment determines the calorie  needs of an individual.</p>
<p>The smaller body size and the warm environmental temperatures make the  calorie requirement of those living in tropical climatic conditions lower than  that of the same age group of people living in temperate regions.</p>
<p>Similarly, age also has a vital role in determining your calorie needs. A  person in his or her mid twenties will have the peak calorie needs of 2300  calories per day. <p>Physical activity is another important factor determining calorie needs of  individuals. A person, whose work involves more physical labour, will have  higher calorie needs than another who leads of his same age leading a sedentary  lifestyle.</p>

<p>Various kinds of nutrients provide different amounts of calories.  Approximately, carbohydrates and proteins contain about four calories per gram  of their weight. There are about nine calories in a gram dietary fat, and around  seven calories in a gram of alcohol. This obviously shows that a reduction in  the intake of foods containing more fat and drinks that are alcoholic will  reduce your calorie intake.</p>
<p>Dieting however doesn&#8217;t mean only consuming low calorie foods. Your diet  should also be nutritious on the other hand. A nutritious diet plan will aid in  weight loss through various ways.</p>
<p>The first and the foremost way is through your metabolism. Metabolism is the  term used to refer the way your body processes and uses the food that you eat.  There are a number of minerals and vitamins needed to maintain the efficiency of  your metabolism. People who are overweight or obese or those who are  trying to lose their body weight should avoid empty calorie foods. Energy  drinks, carbonated beverages, sweets, regular sodas, soft drinks, candies,  etc.</p>
<p>Calorie dense foods: Foods high in fat calories and foods high in both fat  and sugar come under the category of calorie dense foods. They include sausages,  butter, mayonnaise, full fat cheese, white flour muffins, certain types of  commercial popcorn, rich bread snacks, candies, etc. Calorie dense foods are  usually processed foods. They are not recommended for those anticipating to lose  their weight.</p>
<p>Negative calorie foods: Negative calorie foods are those foods that burn more  calories for their processing than what they actually contain. The calories that  these foods contain pose much resistance and your system has to apply much  energy to break them down. This provides these foods with a natural and ample  fat burning ability. <p><em>How soon is too soon to start dieting?</em></p>

<li>Some experts feel that you should wait at least 2 months before starting any  diet plan. This should give your body enough time to recover and establish a  good milk supply. This is a very safe recommendation that applies to <em>most</em>  women. However, everyone is different, and the best answer is to listen to your  body. <em>You</em> are the best person to judge when deciding the time to start <em>your</em> weight loss plan. That said, I&#8217;ve seen women safely lose their  pregnancy weight within 6-8 weeks! A more realistic expectation would be more  like a few short months.</li>

If anything, your baby is better off for it! Much of  the weight you gained was vital to the health of your baby as it  developed.</li>

<li>Fat-soluble environmental contaminants and toxins are stored in body fat.  When caloric intake is severely restricted, these toxins are released into the  milk. Ok so what is &#8220;severely restricted? I don&#8217;t know the exact definition of  &#8220;severely restricted&#8221;, as I&#8217;m sure it is different for everyone but I would  expect it to be significantly under 1500 calories per day.</li>
<li>Mothers with poor diets deplete their own energy levels and run a risk of  becoming anemic. The mother&#8217;s bodies will pull nutrients from the their own  energy stores in order to continue producing the milk their baby needs. This  depletion will cut into your lean tissues (your muscles), and your bones causing  you to lose muscle tone and bone density. This can have a lasting effect on  overall health</li>
<li>Accelerated attempts to lose weight while breastfeeding can put your baby&#8217;s  nutrition at risk, as your body will begin to produce substances called Ketones  that could potentially make your breast milk unhealthy. You should not be taking  any weight-loss drugs, following a liquid diet or cutting your calories below  the recommended amount for your height and build.</li>
</ul>

<p>Don&#8217;t take advice from the so-called &#8220;experts&#8221; at the gym. It&#8217;s probably safe  to assume that they are neither doctors nor breastfeeding experts. Some of the  manufacturers of these products clearly state that pregnant or nursing mothers  should not take them. Most of these products are made up of a combination of  various ingredients, some of which can affect your milk and consequently your  baby. It&#8217;s not worth taking any chances.</p>

This will keep your body  out of &#8220;starvation mode&#8221; and it will be less likely to store fat. Small snacks  like nuts, fruit, string cheese and whole grain crackers make great snacks that  are easy to take on the go. Most women in this country don&#8217;t suffer from a lack  of food, but from eating too much of the wrong foods.</li>

<li>Try to keep your fat intake to 20-25% or less of the total amount of  calories you consume.</li>

It&#8217;s recommended that nursing mother&#8217;s intake about 65  grams of protein daily for the first 6 months.</li>

<li>Light resistance training will help you build lean muscle and speed up your  metabolism. This will help you burn more fat and calories-even when  resting.</li>

While I am a proponent of the  tried and true, natural approach to a slow and steady weight loss using a  healthy diet, portion control and exercise, sometimes using that approach can  take a long time and some people end up getting discouraged. Stubborn fat around  the midline is one of the most common complaints I get in my anti aging medicine  practice. People have a harder time losing the weight when they get older  despite diet and exercise. Others come to me demoralized that after months of  deprivation, they could only lose a few pounds and they just give up.</p>

<p>Dr. Oz did a show on HCG as well. He had some of the same concerns as I do. A  diet such as this one that is only 500 calories a day should only be done under  medical supervision. A very low calorie diet with or without HCG can be  complicated and it is important to have someone to guide you and address issues  as they come up. Secondly, buying homeopathic drops on the Internet can  especially be troublesome, as you don&#8217;t know what you are getting. It is  recommended that you talk to a doctor before considering this type of diet. Only  a doctor can prescribe the actual hormone made by a pharmaceutical company under  strict FDA standards or compounded by reputable, highly skilled compounding  pharmacists. This assures potency, purity and quality.</p>
<p>The controversy of whether or not it would work with or without the hormone  may persist until we have better studies. Those that I read that were negative  did not necessarily follow the protocol. Until that happens, I carefully monitor  my patients and watch their waist waste away and put smiles on their faces. So,  if you want to try the HCG diet, go to a qualified physician who can determine  if it is safe for you and where you can be monitored and obtain pure, potent  HCG. Waist away!</p>
